Sir Peter Lampl, founder of the Sutton Trust, said the resignation was a “sad indictment” of the prospects for improved social mobility.
“It is vital that the Prime Minister renews the commitment she gave in her first statement in Downing Street to ensure that life chances are not determined by social background,” he said. “Social mobility has fallen back and we need to make sure that every young person has the chance to fulfil their potential and get on in life.”
