MY HIGHLIGHT OF THE PROGRAMME WAS THE CONFERENCE AT WARWICK IN THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS OF YEAR 12! I BECOME SO MUCH CLOSER TO THE PEOPLE I MET, FRIENDS THAT I STILL SPEAK TO REGULARLY. I LEARNT SO MUCH ABOUT WHAT STUDYING AT UNIVERSITY WOULD BE LIKE. I HAVE ALSO GAINED SO MANY NEW FRIENDS WHO HAVE BECOME A SUPPORT NETWORK, AS WE HELP EACH OTHER NAVIGATE APPLYING FOR AND STUDING AT UIVERSITY. I NOW HAVE INSIGHT INTO WHAT A CAREER IN LAW IS REALLY LIKE, AND HOW TO ENTER THE SECTOR, WHEN BEFORE I HAD NO IDEA HOW TO

I FEEL AS THOUGH ON THE CONFERENCE I DEVELOPED SOME OF THE KEY SKILLS REQUIRED TO BE A LAW STUDENT, PARTICULARLY MY DEBATING SKILLS. I AM NOW MORE EQUIPPED TO APPLY FOR UNIVERSITY AND STUDY LAW!

MY EXPERIENCE AT THE CONFERENCE WAS A POSITIVE SURPRISE - THE SESSIONS WERE MONUMENTAL IN DEVELOPING MY UNDERSTANDING OF NOT ONLY THE LAW ITSELF BUT THE WAY IN WHICH TO CONDUCT ONESELF IN A LAW ENVIRONMENT. IT WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE THAT HAS MADE ME EXCITED TO BEGIN UNIVERSITY AND DO IT ALL AGAIN

Meet the Team!
Making sure your safe while you’re having fun is our main priority! We have a range of different staff members who are fully trained, and have a criminal record check, to help us do this. They include:
- Sutton Trust Staff Members: They’re responsible for organising the conference, and at the conference making sure everything runs smoothly. They’ll also be the main point of contact for your parents/guardians.
- University Coordinators: In the lead up to the conference, they’ll arrange your travel, and make sure you have everything you need. At the conference, they’ll deliver and support some sessions, and are responsible for your pastoral care.
- Team Leaders: They’re undergraduate students from the three Pathways universities. At the conference they create a fun, welcoming environment, give you an insight into university life, lead sessions and look after a student group.
- Overnight team: They’re undergraduate students from the three Pathways universities. At the conference, during the evening and the night they supervise the accommodation, and will support you with any issues, emergencies or if you’re feeling unwell during the night.
- University of Warwick Conferencing team: They manage the venue, accommodation, food, first aid and 24/7 security team.
- Professionals: They’ll lead sessions, and will answer anything and everything around careers in Engineering
Your student group
For the duration of the conference you’ll be part of a group of 20-25 students from each of the 10 universities. You’ll have 2 or 3 Team Leaders who’ll run icebreakers and support you throughout the conference. It’ll be a great way to meet new people, and experience what university life is like!
What Happens Next?
- Complete the registration form. As we want you to enjoy the conference, and the different experiences it will provide you, in a safe and stimulating environment, in your form we’ll ask you to agree to following the code of conduct when you’re at the conference.
- Join the Q&A session online on Monday, 1st July between 5-6PM. You can ask any questions, and hear from students who’ve previously attended the conference to find out what it’s really like. You can register here!
- About 4-weeks before the conference, we’ll send you a Welcome Pack. It has lots of information about what you need to bring, and what kind of sessions and activities you’ll take part in – so it’s really important you give it a read.
If you aren’t able to attend any more, it’s really important to let us know by emailing [email protected]. Once you confirm your withdrawal, we’ll inform your university co-ordinator and Cc’ your listed parent/guardian so that they’re aware.
