On Thursday 23 February, our partner Bloomberg hosted a celebration event at the Science Museum to mark the end of the inaugural year of our new Future Skills Bursary – a career insight and bursary programme, exclusively for Sutton Trust alumni. Attendees included mentors and firms who have supported the programme.
The evening included a private view of the ‘Making a Modern World exhibition’, remarks from Bloomberg and Sutton Trust, and reflections from some of the students about their experience of the programme. Finally, attendees were provided the opportunity to network with one another with students further developing their professional connections.
As part of her reflections on the programme Batul, one of the programme participants, commented that;
“It was only after I saw that there were other women, and women of colour, in the Tech and Engineering teams at Bloomberg, that I really saw myself there and solidified my decision to pursue a career in Fintech.”
Caroline Rowley, Head of Corporate Philanthropy Bloomberg, UK
“We are proud to build on our partnership with the Sutton Trust. At Bloomberg we believe that providing opportunities for young people to explore career pathways through insights and work placements is critical for improving social mobility, and is also important for our business. It has been a real pleasure to support these incredible students to build confidence, develop new networks and explore a range of career pathways through this programme”.
