Tell us a bit about your background

“I’m from Northern Ireland but moved to England to study computer science.”

What are you doing now and what are your plans for the future?

“I managed to get a place on BA’s Future Leader Graduate Scheme. I have done a stint in the terminal and now doing a cabin crew placement before rolling off into a trainee managerial/product management role. A typical day includes cabin crew training – safety, security, emergency procedures, aviation medicine, conflict management and de-escalation. I’m not sure what to do after this three year scheme!”

How has taking part in a Sutton Trust programme helped you?

“It gave me a bit of extra money so I could focus on things I am truly passionate about. Seeing Bloomberg and JP Morgan was such an interesting experience, even if it taught me I didn’t want to pursue a career in those fields.”

What would you tell someone who was unsure about applying for a Sutton Trust programme?

“Absolutely give it a go. The different people and experiences I wouldn’t have come in contact with had I not applied make it worth it alone, disregarding the career and personal growth benefits that come along with the programmes.”
