Now studying Economics at university, Sehr shared with us how the programme shaped her journey.
Tell us a bit about what you’ve been doing since your programme?
“Since completing the Pathways to Banking and Finance, I have been studying BSc Economics at Royal Holloway, University of London. I have just finished my second year. I am honoured to be on the Credit Suisse Steps to Success Scholarship programme, this has allowed me to continue pursuing a career in Investment Banking through internships each summer.
Alongside my academic and career pursuits, I became the Project Leader for my university’s volunteering abroad team and am incredibly excited to be leading a team out to Chiang Mai, Thailand later this summer. We will be teaching children in rural hill tribe villages and taking care of rescued elephants at the Elephant Nature Park.”
What do you think about your Sutton Trust programme, looking back on it?
“The Pathways to Banking and Finance programme at LSE was an incredible experience, it allowed me to explore Central London university life, meet like-minded people, gain first-hand industry insight, meet prominent industry members and so many more experiences which truly broadened my view on university and career paths.
It was particularly useful completing work experience at NatWest Markets through the Pathways to Banking and Finance Programme. Going into a new firm with a group of students who you had already gotten to know made the work experience so much more fun.
The highlight of the Pathways program for me has to be the Finance Conference which was held at Warwick University.”
What are your ambitions for the future, and what advice would you give to students considering the programme?
“One of my ambitions for the future is beginning my career in investment banking after completing my BSc in Economics.
To future Sutton Trust students, my advice would be to fully immerse yourself in the incredible Sutton Trust programme you are on, seize each opportunity, be brave and connect with the amazing network. The Sutton Trust is an incredible organisation that truly cares about each student’s future, cherish that!”
