Our new bursary is now open for applications.
Sutton Trust alumni and alumni of the Aspiring Professionals Programme by JPMorgan Chase and the Social Mobility Foundation – which connects students with hands-on job training and skills development for careers in financial services – can now apply for funding of up to £5,000 to support participation in extracurricular activities, as part of a new collaboration between the Sutton Trust and JPMorgan Chase.
The funding comes from a new £4.8m bursary fund announced earlier this year, a collaboration between the Trust and JPMorgan Chase, to widen access to extracurricular activities.
Successful applicants can use the funding for a range of activities to develop their life skills, such as:
- Funding travel/accommodation for an overseas internship, work placement or shadowing, or research trip
- Covering costs of a professional qualification, or membership to a professional body for networking and career learning purposes
- Paying for additional specific equipment or software that will enable you to undertake freelance work in your area of interest, to further your development and experience
Previous Sutton Trust research has found developing life skills is as important to teachers and employers as academic success. Research from the Trust in February found that 1 in 5 working-class graduates could not afford to take up a work experience placement during university. This has been further impacted by the pandemic.
Students applications close on Friday 15th October at 12pm.
