Find out more information about this year’s employer engagement on our Pathways to the Professions programmes.

The Sutton Trust Pathways programmes support students to explore a range of careers while building the essential knowledge, skills and confidence required to go on to higher education and the world of work. Work experience placements are a cornerstone part of our Pathways programmes and are offered to all students. In addition to work experience taking place locally in-person or online, students also have the chance to meet employers at a variety of events.

We work with employers across the following sectors who host students for placements of 3-5 days in length over the school holidays and/or offer their employer insights by speaking at events throughout the year: Banking & Finance, Consulting, Engineering, and Law.

We’ve been delighted that 2022 has been our biggest ever year of employer engagement activity for our Pathways students, with over 107 different employers supporting our work.

This involvement includes:

  • Offering over 1,000 placements, both in-person nationally and online
  • 335 volunteers attending Pathways events, insight weeks and conferences
  • Totalling over 688 employee volunteering hours

A special thanks to all of our programme supporters and funding partners for their continued commitment to championing social mobility, increasing access to their workplaces, and supporting our students with the opportunities to complete work experience and gain insights into the industry. Thanks to all involved for another great year of our Pathways programmes! We are excited to continue working with all of our supporters and partners as we expand our Pathways programmes and support more students than ever in 2022/2023.

If you work for an organisation in the Banking & Finance, Engineering, or Legal sectors and are interested in learning more about our programmes and opportunities to support our students by hosting them for work experience, our Senior Programme Manager, Gemma Collins ([email protected]), would love to hear from you.

And if you are or know a Year 12/S5 student who would be interested in being a part of our 2022-2024 Pathways programmes, you can find out more and apply here. Each programme will be packed with interactive events, opportunities for work experience, the chance to attend a summer school and access to a wealth of online resources – all completely free.
